Magic Hike

Oil painting

This painting is my first experience with oil paint and is based on a photo I took during a hike with my mom and my dog. As we walked down the trail, the pink and purple sky captured my attention, but I felt something was missing from the composition. To make the scene more personal, I added my dog beside my mom in front of the stunning view. I sketched on the canvas, started with acrylic paint, and then used oil paint to fully bring the sunset to life. This piece captures the moment of the end of winter break—a sunset hike with my mom and dog at the Fremont Older Open Space Preserve. Now hanging on the wall across from the front door, Magic Hike whispers “love” to me every time I enter the house.

Creativity to me is a tool to blend personal experiences with social causes. I aim to inspire thought and action through my art. I’ve created visual art since preschool, and my passion for art has evolved from simply making to using my work as a tool to communicate meaningful messages.
