it’s all life

I wrote these three poems at different points. I wrote ”KEEP DREAMING” when I was thinking about immigrant families and the American Dream, and how dreams are passed on from parents to children. Sometimes, unknowingly, the parents’ dream can become the child’s dream. I wanted it to still be hopeful that one day the dream will be achieved, so I included nature imagery and peaceful words. I wrote ”The end of the day” when I was tired after a long day and life just felt a little sad and empty and I felt lost, like I didn’t know where to go next. I wrote ”Gone” when I thought about how sometimes things are forgotten or you outgrow them and you don’t even notice their absence. I named all the poems ”it’s all life” because they all encompass different parts of life, the growing up and dreams, but the sadness too.

To me, creativity means a chance to let go of what’s in my mind and fully explore all my emotions surrounding a topic. It’s a way to pause and reflect and grow.
