In the Weeds

Serena S.

Acrylic on wood panel.

  • My artwork shows a gardener that is part human and part rabbit who is looking at the reader as if caught in the moment. It represents how people can feel very at home when they are gardening, and this is embodied by the rabbit, an animal that would be very at ease among the weeds. The dandelion that the figure is holding also allows the viewer to understand that although the plant may be seen as a weed for us, it is an important plant for animals such as rabbits who use it as a source of food and happiness.

  • For me, creativity is expressing myself through the medium I choose. It allows me to process what is going on in my life while also enabling the thoughts of my wild imagination become real. My creativity allows me to take a unique approach on things and shows me hidden insights.
