I chose to use the autumn leaves to symbolize comfort in this moment of time with my childhood pet, while demonstrating signs of girlhood with the bows and dressing up my cat with them. The leaves also represent change also a constant of growing up and how time passes by just like the leaves. The color also creates a sense of depth and contrasts that amplifies the significance of the piece. I created this work by just being bold and using large gestures, then confining it in black outline. I created this piece because it was a significant point of time in my childhood where I am embracing girlhood, and finding comfort in the point of time, when it is always changing like autumn leaves. I wanted to display the visual relationship of girlhood between the cat, the little girl, and the bows.
