Freedom

Elijah W.

  • This summer, my camp cabin went backpacking in Yosemite in an area called ”Ten Lakes.” While I expected the site to be beautiful, I was immediately taken aback and truly stunned by the peace and scenery. Surrounded by huge mountains with snow-capped peaks, my group stumbled upon the largest lake in the area. As soon as I saw the lake, my brain was already envisioning a photograph. A rock that would appear to be in the middle of the lake with the perfect angle, and two of my best friends sitting on it fully immersed in the nature surrounding them. Although I only had a small digital camera and wasn’t really that happy with the quality of the photograph, the content and composition makes up for it in my opinion and helps me envision this special memory in which I experienced true freedom.

  • For me, creativity means freedom because it allows me to truly express myself. It allows me to create what is important to me and what I actually care about. Photography allows for creativity because you decide what to take a picture of and what you want the viewer to feel.
