This photo captures the contrast between human development and nature’s rugged beauty. Taken during an aerial photography outing, I leaned out of a doorless plane to frame the Point Reyes Lighthouse, perched on a rugged cliff with the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean. The cool ocean tones, textured rock formations, and warm sunset lighting combine to create a sense of both tranquility and awe, with the lighthouse serving as a reminder of humanity’s determination to coexist with nature’s grandeur. The process of capturing this image was as exhilarating as the result. At my local airport, I connected with a fellow pilot who agreed to fly me over the Marin coastline. As the sun set on our final pass by, everything aligned perfectly, allowing me to snap this shot. This image represents not only the power of nature but also the spirit of adventure and connection.
