Drifting Towards Solitude

Cece D.

  • I sat at Bolinas Ridge during the hour that the sun was setting, waiting until I saw interesting silhouettes to photograph. This person really stood out to me because although it looks like a child, it is actually an adult woman who was flying a kit by herself. To me, this image and this moment represents the child-like nature in all of us. It also represents the importance of learning to enjoy your own company, even if you are alone you are not lonely. I love the small silhouette in contrast to the vast sky and hills because it demonstrates the importance of perspective, we are all extremely small in comparison to the size of the world. This shows the importance of letting all your worries go and letting yourself be free.

  • Creativity is the act of turning feelings, thoughts, and emotions into something tangible, a way to express what my words often can’t. I am able to see the world in a different way when I am photographing.
