Blood-Soaked Prayers

Sky S.

  • This poem delves into the struggles of being both Persian and Jewish amid the turmoil of war in the Middle East. It explores the intersection of identity, faith, and the profound toll of conflict, highlighting the tension between two opposing yet similar worlds—each with its own beliefs, values, and struggles. Through this lens, the poem reflects the emotional and cultural complexities of living in the midst of war even when I am not geographically close to the war. Writing helps me to understand myself and my emotions and this piece really showcases that.

  • Creativity is being bold in the ways that you express yourself. Letting yourself go through any outlet is creativity, no matter how dark or ugly the product turns out to be.
