Blemish

Lilly M.

Acrylic, yarn

  • This piece shows how small imperfections can become an obsession, specifically those that lie in our appearance. This distorted perception becomes all we can see of ourselves. To others, what is a minor blemish is to me a blaring reminder of my flaws that I expressed through the overpowering contrast of textured bursts of red. Becoming more comfortable in my own skin begins with expressing my insecurities on canvas.

  • Creativity is presenting a new way of looking at something that allows my mind to be free of constraints.
