Today She Chose Me
This song is an original I had written, recorded, and produced myself. This was one of the first originals that I have ever produced. As I began to experiment with different instruments, adding textures of electric guitar (both clean and distorted), acoustic guitar, bass, bells, drums, and vocal harmony, I hoped of creating a story that felt subtle, yet somewhat euphoric. I wanted to represent a story of a new love that began to emerge and blossom.
Love’s Waltz
This specific piece is part of a large body of work: a musical narrative (for a hypothetical movie!) conveyed through thematic material, musical puzzles, orchestration, compositional techniques specific to certain characters, and the emotional tone of each individual piece (or scene, if you will)!
Becoming Butterfly
In the symphony of nature, the metamorphosis of a butterfly represents a breathtaking crescendo, a testament to the beauty and resilience of life itself.
On a Rainy Day
This is the first song iI have written and I really like how it turned out. It's about how even on a bad day there is always good parts of it. And how other people can make it better.
growing pains
The song that I wrote is called “Growing Pains”. I wrote this song during a time in my life when there was so much change and I felt like my childhood was essentially over, despite only being 16. My sister who I was very close with moved out for college 2,000 miles away, I by then had no more grandparents, and I suddenly felt like I was running out of time.
A Stroll in a Grand Town
Seated at the piano in an attempt to come up with a new melody, I found no luck until I looked up from the piano and into the living room, where my sister was watching the film Paddington...again. As my sister laughed, I began to weave melodies that echoed the cheerful spirit of Paddington's escapades.
Flight
Since entering high school, I’ve been met with constant reminders of how quickly my childhood years are going by. Around the time that I first wrote this song, my brother was moving away for college, thoughts of moving away from friends, family, and loved ones were constantly occupying my mind.
Fragmented Path: Roots
This is the second piece in a larger project, and represents a reflection on the events portrayed by the first piece. The protagonist is lost in their thoughts, entranced by something that is entirely new to them. This contemplative quality is conveyed through swirling and surreal synth arpeggios and drifting and repetitive guitar motifs.
The Musician Doesn't Get the Guy
It is a song about having an obsessive crush as someone who isn't very good at social interaction, and relies more on music to talk about their feelings
Overcoming Addiction
This piece, dedicated to my friend who has recently overcome alcoholism, depicts the nasty stages of addiction. The piece opens with a happy sounding theme, however this is the euphoric illusion of happiness triggered by alcohol.
The Land Before the Main Street
Jazz piano improvisation with flute, bass, and percussion.
Never Meant To Be
This song is about unrequited love, in which the relationship was one-sided from the perspective of the song's narrator. The lyrics express feelings of regret and disappointment. The introduction of the song features the singer repeatedly attempting to call their former loved one, hoping for reconciliation and a desperate sense of closure.
as long as you exist
as long as you exist' is a song reflecting on communication and human connection (among others). I aimed to make the listening experience experiential and visceral. Hopefully it speaks for itself.
Metal Music
This song began as just the opening line, and I wasn't entirely sure where it would go. I completed it as a vague love song written to a robot, but upon returning to it a bit later, I changed most of the lyrics to relate to transhumanism and the garden of eden, two topics I find fascinating.
Swallowed Fear
This was an original song was made as a band. It started with a drum beat, then guitar was added. The bass followed the guitar and lyrics were made. As a group we brought it to our friend who sang it with us live!
Train of Thought
I made the beat, mixed, mastered, and performed on the song. This style of song was inspired by the genre of melodic rap, specifically artists like Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Tecca, and Lil Skies.
The Rose That Bloomed
This piece, The Rose That Bloomed, is my interpretation of the following of Tupac Shakur’s poem, The Rose That Grew From Concrete. I did not know who Tupac Shakur was when I first read his text when I was in 8th grade.
