Violin Sonata No. 2 in A Minor BMW 1003: Andante by J. S. Bach
Isaac K.

Bach’s Andante consists of a flowing melody in apparent conflict with the persistent steady bass quarters, where a third and fourth voice enters from time to time. Performing this piece bears the danger of losing the ¾ meter, so I wanted to bring out the varying emotions that Bach felt when composing this piece. As the core, this piece represents a greater relaxation, but in the middle of the piece, tension and conflict holds true as the dissonances pile up.

Creativity in music is exploring complex sides of yourself, your surroundings, and history. Shostakovich expands on the terrors felt in the midst of the Soviet Union, Ysaye brought out a world of fantasy, and Bach gives you the freedom to interpret his work in any way. Creativity is music.
