Sonate, Op10, No. 1 by L. Van Beethoven

Jocelyn W.

  • I played Sonate, Op10, No.1, by Beethoven. At first, I was intimidated by the difficulty of the piece, but as I started to learn it and it started to grow on me, I quickly fell in love with it's rhythm of fast paced tempos and dreamy scenery. I highly enjoyed playing this piece, and I would recommend others to try it as well. When playing this piece, I could feel the turmoil and trouble that Beethoven was trying to express using the Mannheim rockets as well as the peacefulness that came after with the long rests that built tension. My favorite part were the triplets, one after another, that hid in suspense behind their quietness, then jumped out to attack. Overall, this has been one of my favorite pieces to play since I started learning piano and I would say that the practice was well worth the final product.

  • Creativity is any way that allows me self expression. As a pianist and individual with unexplainable thoughts, I'm gratified for the opportunity to express myself through music that I can only really call completed after practicing, understanding, and feeling it. Only then can I play the piece correctly, con creatività.
