In my watercolor painting, I sought to capture the often overlooked beauty nestled within a gas station. I chose to paint this seemingly mundane structure, typically dismissed in our daily routines, to shed light on the beauty that goes unnoticed in our day to day lives. I chose to tint the background of the painting a purple hue to contrast and compliment the warmer tones of the gas station. By casting a unique hue upon its surroundings, I aimed to elevate this familiar scene, encouraging viewers to pause and appreciate the subtle beauty hidden in the ordinary. ’Shell’ is a celebration of the unnoticed, a testament to finding beauty in unexpected places. Through this work, I invite the audience to reconsider their perception of the commonplace, urging them to find beauty in the simplicity that surrounds us.
