Progress Will March

  • My goal for this was to try and effectively communicate the setting within the 500 word limit. While doing so is difficult, I think I did a pretty good job, even if I had to omit some details for brevity. One of the major things I would have expanded on more if given I had more words is that this is Sci-Fi and takes place in an alien world. Its gravity is lower than earth's, which has allowed the species the protagonist belongs to to develop the ability to glide (in the same manner as a flying squirrel) while still being of similar size to humans. What they look like though, apart from that feature, is largely up to interpretation. Another thing I put thought into that isn't so obvious is the naming scheme for people and places. The scheme for the names (Prefix'word) was chosen because I thought it looked cool (along with whatever came after the prefix) but the prefix was not. Ab and On mean godly or of god, coming from the god Abon (who I will talk about later) and Tu means hard worker. These prefixes would be chosen by the person's parents to reflect what they thought they would be. The god Abon is (in hindsight, not intentionally) very similar to Gaia in the fact that he is a god of the earth. While I do have some more to say, there is a word cap on this as well, so I bid you adieu.

  • I use creativity simply to tell stories. I believe my time is best spent not delivering a moral or message, but giving people something to laugh at or enjoy reading. If my writing can make you think about something going on in the world, then that's a nice bonus.
