parade

It was two in the afternoon, and I found myself a lost tourist in the busy streets of Boston, jostling with the crowd, amidst a sea of faces. I was attempting to navigate Copley Square in the hot summer sun, hoping to find my cousin's art display among the multitude of stalls. As I wandered, a melody serendipitously wafted through my mind, unprompted but insistent. I recorded it in my voice memos, amidst the hum of the crowd and the distant city noises, and tucked it away, thinking nothing more of it. Fast forward twelve hours and the scenario couldn't be more different. At two in the morning, I was in the solitude of a practice room at my dorm at the Berklee College of Music. A stark contrast to the hustle of the day, the silence of the night was only broken by the echo of that same melody, playing back through my headphones on repeat. Surrounded by the faint scent of old sheet music and the comforting embrace of the room's dim lighting, I found inspiration blooming within me. And so, I began to improvise, sparking a wildfire of creativity, branching out into words and harmonies that started to form a narrative, to form the essence of a song. It was a raw, cathartic process that showcased the purity of my creative spirit. And thus, in that practice room at the heart of Berklee, my premiere album, “thank you for loving me.”, took its first breath with “parade”.

It's a transformative, healing process, leading to the creation of something that not only resonates personally but exudes a sense of pride in its unique embodiment of emotion and thought.
