I was inspired by mekanphotography and their beautiful pictures of marine life. I used their pictures as an inspiration for this piece and wanted to represent the beauty of the ocean, especially as it is struggling against ocean pollution currently. I used acrylic for many of the piece as it helped me get many intricate details and it gives life to these animals. I used gouache to make darker backgrounds and colored pencil to dictate the light from the sun. To really express the 'Heart of the Ocean', I put an ocean photographer directly in front of the painting and captured an explosion of the beautiful marine wildlife.

It means being able to freely express your ideas within your paintings towards the viewers, and bringing them into your piece. It also means that it comes at your own pace, and may take a while to come, but once it does, you're just in the zone.
