Green Catches Purple Catches Green

Isa S.

Charcoal, Acrylic Paint, Oil Pastel, Spray Paint

  • I painted this painting with the intentions of it just being a charcoal study but i came back to it a few days later and realized it strayed too far from my original style so I decided to add more movement and color. This is a self portrait, i intentionally chose these colors because green is a color that depicts envy and jealousy, I envy a lot of other peoples lives. In minor situations like what they were able to buy or what they did over the weekend. But what i envy most is when people talk about their dad. People say the word so easily but for me the word catches in my throat and I pause when I have to talk about him. But Its not their fault they have something I dont. Purple is poison, and it spreads in me, now I feel bad for being annoyed about someone for something they cant control. Green and Purple fuel eachother, and they look sick together in a piece :)

  • For me it means to put out my ideas that Im not able to write or say, to give myself a better understanding of my own thoughts. Its so freeing to be able to make whatever i want, its the one thing where i dont have to listen to others.
