Felicidade, a bossa nova classic composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim, is an energetic, rhythmic piece that represents many aspects of the Brazilian spirit. Roland Dyens, a virtuosic French guitarist, wanted to bring jazz classics that were not conventionally for "Classical guitar" to the instrument, so he arranged many styles of Jazz, including this piece. In his arrangement, he ties together the rhythms, melodies, and spirit that are core to the genre of Bossa Nova, but still incorporates his own musical ideas and personality. This arrangement will always be with me, as it is a piece that I love to listen to, and have had a lot of fun learning and performing. Enjoy!
