Desperado

  • As an aspiring musician, my voice is my most powerful channel of my emotions. When I cannot speak how I feel, I search for a melody that elevates the words, to release and amplify their intensity. My journey in music has been profoundly influenced by the timeless Linda Ronstadt. Her voice was soulful in its great depth and emotion, and it moves me in a way that no other art form ever has. The unique variety of her work has shown me the many ways that music can create a profound connection with an audience. I believe in the power of music to transcend words, to express emotions the way language cannot. I aimed to showcase the truth of this belief as I covered Linda Ronstadt’s version of “Desperado”. I started by practicing the piano inversions and sequences, playing until I knew I’d be free to experiment with the vocals. I recorded my piano track through Protools. My ideas for the melody evolved as I tried different phrasings, dynamics, and harmonies to capture how I wished to showcase Linda’s exceptionally sung ballad. By allowing myself full freedom of musical expression, I let my technique work with my emotion and passion. In my cover of "Desperado," I’ve endeavored to create a piece that resonates deeply with its listeners. I am forever inspired by the miracle of artistic expression, and am grateful to share my piece with the Creative Youth Awards administrators.

  • Creativity is the process of bringing something authentic and new into existence, whether it's an idea, a work of art, a solution to a problem, or an original perspective. Creativity transcends conventional boundaries, encouraging the exploration of uncharted territories and the synthesis of disparate elements.
