This piece draws from cultural aspects of Japan reflected through aspects of childhood memories. It depicts a working woman in Japanese society reflecting on her loss of her childlike sense through aging, highlighting her reminiscent aspect by bringing a supernatural feel into the piece in isolating her figure, and her longing to experience her childhood once more in the midst of her monotonous working life. I wanted to portray a sense of loneliness about the scene, allowing the focus to lie on the woman. As such, I used blue to detail the woman, drawing the viewer's eyes to her face, especially. I utilized a solid base of watercolor to allow a loose flow to the artwork, incapsulating the free-flowing aspect of life and allowing the background to blend away, while the color pencil sharpened the details of the piece, again drawing attention to the main focus of the drawing, the woman indulging herself in a childhood game once more.

To me, creativity means freedom of expression; allowing oneself to be creative means building off of previously formulated ideas by bringing your own twists, not simply regurgitating ideas but breeding new ones stemming from self expression.
