This piece was an experiment. I explored charcoal for the first time with excitement and fear. I started with the shadow, and worked my way to the detail. I've never worked with such a messy, and unpredictable medium. It let me struggle and learn with my mistakes along the way. I used the struggles to make something moving for my family, something that touched their heart. This piece is for my abuelito, a strong, hardworking and loving man that fought until he couldn't.

Creativity means expression to me. It means the exploration of the mind. To be able to use imagination to create, think, a do things that inspire you. It can inspire me in a positive way, or in a way to express feelings that are way too complicated for words.
