Violin Concerto by J. Sibelius

Michael O.

  • The piece I played is the Violin Concerto in D minor, 1st movement by Jean Sibelius. I had been looking forward to playing this piece ever since I started playing the violin. It is one of my favorite pieces. This piece required me to be a lot more musical than before due to the intricate phrasing and solemn feel of the piece. My interpretation was based on my favorite recordings, but I added my own spin to them. I added all of the emotions that I could into the piece.

  • Creativity can lead you to reach new heights, explore your boundaries, and might even bring you to new lows. This is very important in life because it is how you learn. In music, you can explore your interpretation of different pieces, learn how you put emotion into the music, and learn new things.
