Vende Tu Alma

Gabriel P.

  • My music performance has many aspects, and the music is very much a big part of how and why I perform the way I do. Not only do I produce the music that is playing, but I also sing, dance and I even engage with people in the audience. The singing part is very important to me because, I really want people to feel the emotion in the song that they are listening to, whether it be happy, sad, or excited. The dancing in my performances are also a very important part to me because the style of dancing I do is called "Cumbia" and it is a very popular dance in Latin America that comes in many forms. The outfits are a key point in my performance as well and I think that it is a perfect way to show off my culture and a way to feel like I am representing people who are just like me, I have fun representing mi gente (my people). My artistic process is first, getting inspired/motivated by another performance maybe by someone else, that makes me feel powerful. Second, brainstorming ideas of a performance in my head that I think would make my future audience feel powerful like me as well. Third, I get into creating the live performance and putting everything together until it's in my liking and practice it as much as I can. Finally I perform what I have been putting together and make sure the crowd is feeling what I am feeling.

  • It impacts my life deeply because I am constantly thinking everyday about what I can do in order to make the best performance/show to my liking, and adjusting it to where people will like it too so they can have a good time. This is something that is on my mind 24/7 and I love thinking about change.
