Truth and Purpose

Every poem that I write starts with a thought, an observation, or a question. Writing, especially poetry, helps me decipher the complexities of the world. It also gives me a voice. I hope that one day I cannot only speak out against the unjust actions that our world is composed of, but that I will also be an intelligent, educated, and passionate human being that knows what to say and how to say it. Writing for me is a failed attempt at expressing emotions that we all feel so deeply but cannot describe, I will never be able to do these feelings justice but I'll always try.

For me, poetry is a way to navigate my emotions and attempt to express them in an understandable way. It helps me to interpret how I'm feeling in the moment, both with metaphors and in a literal sense. It's a deeper art form that requires interpreting and thought compared to clearly stated writing.
