The Hidden Wonders of the World

Sonam M.

  • I usually like to write short stories comprised of many pages, so I had to really think about what I could compress into the 500 word limit. I decided to write about two things that I really love and then combine them: daydreaming and magic. I have always loved reading fantasy books and I often find myself thinking about what my life would look like if I lived in one of those fictional worlds. Therefore, I placed this story in the setting of one of the least-magical places I could think of in the real world and that was, in my opinion, a math class. I then sprinkled some of the most cliché elements of fantasy books throughout the story and those elements ended up becoming a student's daydream. Of course, not every student dreams the same dream, but I wanted to depict what I think a book lover's typical dream is. Hopefully, I captured that dream well!

  • Creativity can be therapeutic for a lot of people because it helps them relax and get through challenges. In other words, creativity serves as an outlet for people and their emotions, which is similar to how I write and make art to either unwind after a long day or to just have fun.
