As one who enjoys fruits, it was only fitting that I think of the phrase “an apple a day keeps a doctor away” as an idea for this essay. The apple in the story—or rather two halves of an apple—represent the two sides of our brain, and consequently society today, for our ideas, actions, and choices make up the very community we live in. The format of "The Apple" is written in the style of code as (without spoiling the story) society is quite dependent on technology today, thus, reflecting on how we often forget about the most simple joys of life.
