My piece of artwork is a collection of poems I wrote throughout my junior year of high school. Although they are unrelated to each other, I find them related in that they were all written during the same period of my life and reflect a multitude of different feelings I was experiencing during that time. Autopsy is the only one that does not relate to my own personal experiences, instead telling a grim fantasy-esque story through poetry. Apocalypse reflects on feelings of anger and fear and the darkness that comes with them, while Time Signature of a Human Heartbeat is written about opening oneself up to love and vulnerability as well as the potential dangers that come from it. I like to use different metaphors and formats to experiment with impact and feeling, which is what I did through these poems. As for the artistic process, I usually come up with my ideas based on whatever I am feeling at the moment, or a simple concept such as one word or feeling. Afterward, I usually draft a skeleton of the poem around that concept in one sitting fueled by inspiration and emotion.

I use creativity as a way to express myself through my art and process my feelings in a safe place without judgement. I love making art because it's a way to share my experiences and stories as well as the ideas from my own imagination in a creative way that my audience can also relate to.
