As a daughter who has incredibly hard-working parents, I wanted to portray the emotional relationship a mother and daughter might struggle with. However I didn’t want to make the mother the villain of the narrative like many stories do. I went through the process while writing this play to make sure I conveyed a defining relationship and the struggle of a single hard-working mother and an emotionally valid daughter. I wanted to address the question of How do they get what they need from each other? Overall, I really enjoyed writing this piece and tinkering with all its little soft spots.

It is a way to release emotions that have been built up for awhile without the fear of the confrontation.
