I Am a Mural / The Experience of Being Multiracial

My creative writing piece is a non-fiction exploration of my racial multiracial identity and how I came to admire my differences. It is about how I used to compare myself to muddy paint water because of my multiple ethnicities. But now, I have extracted the colors and now think of my identity as a mural that incorporates many colors to form something beautiful, much like me and all the other multiracial individuals who once felt lost.

Through writing, my strong emotions and passions are expressed onto paper, forming a connection with someone who relates to or finds interest in my work. Writing is where I can spark new conversations encompassing emotional and vulnerable topics that were once challenging to convey.
