  • This photo was inspired by Alexander Khokhlov, a conceptual artist and photographer. He is known for painting his subjects and I wanted to emulate something similar. Taking pictures of people was never my cup of tea but I was interested in using a human’s face as a canvas. I like darker settings in photos since it has a certain calm vibe. I wanted to incorporate that mellow vibe but had a hard time figuring out how to focus on the person’s painted face while having dark lighting. The idea of using UV paint came into mind and the purple light that you use to see the UV paint worked perfectly to achieve that dim, dark light.

  • Exploring and expressing creativity through photography helps me find out more about myself. I can find what color palette I prefer, or if I like to capture a busy environment vs a calm one. In that way, thinking for myself helps me find out more about what I enjoy in life.
