Title: "Garden”
Medium: DSLR Camera, with small changes in contrast and cropping through computer
Process: I used a large sun hat, two apples, a lemon, grapes, and two clothespins. These are all related to the outdoors, and are objects that you might find in a small garden. I wanted to create a garden themed still life, so I decided to use fruit since they were smaller objects and easier to arrange with the hat horizontally. Some compositional qualities that I was aiming for include contrast and balance, especially with the arrangement of the objects in the still life. Originally, I had trouble holding a lamp steady to take clear photos, but later on the photos became less blurry. The focus of the camera was often directed towards the sun hat, or the edge of the photo, so having clear fruit and clothespins was difficult at first. However, I felt that I was able to place the fruit evenly and not have any certain part stand out too much. Overall, the still-life photography process involved rearranging objects many times to achieve the desired effects.
