Dearly Departed

  • The presented photo is one representation of many relating to the thousands of miles that I have covered alone by bike over the last couple of years in the Bay Area, being a part of a project that was completely analog, titled "Out on the Backroads". I set out to ride along the pictured road, unknowingly finding it closed and deserted due to prevalent winter storms and the landslides that come along with them. A stretch of 7 miles of backroad was mine for the taking, giving myself a state of unbothered solitude as I rode through the fog and cherished the precipitated alpine trees above my head, ever so often dropping some of its dew upon my head. The road was evidently unmaintained, with leaves littering its centers, along with the occasional instance of fallen rocks that I needed to ride around. A state of abandonment was present, yet I felt serene and at peace, having the entire road to myself while taking in nature running its course.

  • Expressing creativity is a form of leaving something behind for future generations to comprehend and ponder upon. It forms a progressive stance toward advancement in all stages of life, fleeing from monotony and inducing a boundless form of expression.
