Back Of The Snakes Head

  • "Back of the Snake's Head"

My artwork captures a group of people that is often overlooked or looked down upon for their defiant and abrasive attitudes towards traditional values. I take photos at shows and events like this to make sure we are seen beyond the walls of a venue. For this photo, I was in between the band playing and the crowd, and I managed to capture one of the band members, clad in a reptilian mask and a leather jacket, raising their fist above the chaotic mass of people. I believe it captures the spirit of the culture I witness and take part in when I attend these shows. I took this shot on an old digital camera since its easier to carry in my pocket in comparison to a modern chunky camera.

  • Exploring and expressing my creativity has helped me connect with a community of people that are normally ignored and marginalized. It's hard to find other people that share my interests but going to shows and documenting them with my photography has helped me find a caring and kind space.
