• Artist Statement

  At the time this was painted, my father had recently lost 2 of his closest siblings within a couple of months. His sadness (and the sadness of those at the funerals) carried a content disappointment I wanted to capture here.

• Creative Statement

  Creativity is expression through thinking. It's adding that vague brush stroke so that you can bring the audience one step closer to sadness, and using society's (and maybe your own) congested misery to conjure up new scenarios to define them. At the end, creativity builds some form of a dictionary.
