MONOLITH

  • I find most breathtaking views to be as such because of their texture (or lack thereof at times), therefore many of my digital piece heavily center around finding and exposing all of the gorgeous intricacies behind many everyday sights. First of all, when attacking any given idea, I need a justified reason to bring out the these textures, and put their beauty on blast. I figured the best way to approach this goal was by heavily focusing on the lighting of the piece, and making sure that it caresses the surface of the visible faces in all the right ways. For example, the pillars seen in this piece are merely my rendition of the sides of cliffs on the waterside, as they are always that first thing I see when looking out on the coast, however, I've always felt as though these cliffsides are viewed in a really linear, one-dimensional fashion, either in broad daylight or barely seen at night. To avoid this, I decided to recreate this texture and light it in a way that fully takes it out of its element, and repurposes it in a new, exciting way. With this approach on every aspect of the piece, I get a product that I feel has never before been seen, with a lighting and composition that brings it a refreshing breathe of uniqueness without overdoing its 'abstract' qualities. I feel that this piece is some of my best work, and I'm more than proud to show it off in such a wonderful way as this festival.

  • For me, creativity has always been an outlet for my indescribable thoughts. The art I create expresses the emotions I feel, and it reveals the deeper meaning of what I stand for. Honing my creativity is one of the aspects of life that keeps me running, and it's a part of me that is here to stay.
