Mid-way through a photo-shoot with my friend, while sorting through my photos, I had a vision. We were at my neighborhood park, and my friend sat on a swing while she waited for me to finish. I looked up from my place on the ground and imagined the moment: her, suspended in the air, like she was flying.
The result is this playful, yet dramatic photo. I believe its strength comes from the contrast and the negative space. The swing is intentionally unattached to anything in frame, in order to eliminate distractions.
Though the photo was first meant to showcase my friend's style of clothing, it's evolved into more than that, at least in my mind. The freedom of flight, the desire to explore an unknown world, and the curiosity to know who the person is all add to the intrigue. This photo reminds me to take a breath of air and every so often, to let myself feel unchained from responsibility.

Creativity is a life skill. With creativity, life becomes more meaningful. Difficult tasks become easier. The art I create becomes better. Though it is possible to do without, I consider creativity essential to my life path.
