• Artist Statement

  ‘Cartscape' is a look into the Athenian School’s landscape through the eyes of sunlight with the ubiquitous campus golf carts. Used for maintaining the landscape of the school, the golf carts are part of the reason for the beauty in the landscape in addition to being embedded in it. The presence of the golf carts symbolizes the uniqueness of Athenian. The reflection through the windows of carts makes for a beautiful sight in my eyes. The mixture of vibrant colors from nature and light gives me a sense of freedom. So many landscape photographs show an idealized version of nature, but I am drawn to the imperfections that make each landscape unique. In this project, I wanted to tie the uniqueness of the Athenian school to a worldwide landscape photography. The presence of light laying across the landscape makes everything it touches beautiful.

• Creative Statement

  Creativity for me is expressing one's thoughts and views in a way that fulfills every person's uniqueness. For me, creativity comes as I try to take my audiences on a journey into my vision. By freezing the world in action through my camera, I use photography as a way to portray my thinking.
