Stay by Sara Bareilles
After helping promote this amazing way of sharing art in the Bay Area, I knew that I had to join in. In August, I absolutely loved collaborating with the incredibly talented artists that were also helping promote this movement (Quinn, Selkie, etc.), while also working with Melissa McLane and her insanely talented kids. This song has always been very special to me, and I am really excited to share it with this wonderful foundation. Thank you!
Chronic
A young woman with a chronic illness feels ashamed of her differences and hides it from a young man who she has fallen for, afraid he will no longer accept her. Anna is a 21 year old woman with a chronic illness that requires her to have a permanent breathing tube. She has learned to be ashamed of it rather than accept it. This all changes when Anna meets Zac, a 20 year old who often visits the coffee shops Anna works at.
Rocket Man by Elton John
Written in 1972, the song Rocket Man by Elton John and co-writer Bernie Taupin is timeless. The universe is a mysterious place, and over the decades, humans have been curious to know more about the unknown - a place outside our planet earth. Listening to this song makes me feel intrigued by how curiosity leads to so many discoveries every day. The song depicts the intense love between life in space and life on earth with family. It hits me the same way as I think about how much I want to explore all the possibilities out there after school and yet, I still love being in the comfort of my home with my family. Rocket Man is a song that makes me reflect on the limitlessness of one’s life every time I listen to it.
Crescent Valley
In this collaborative Script written by Olga Klymenko and Daniela Camden, Crescent Valley follows a young Amelia Speer, a girl who is just starting her freshman year of Highschool. But as time goes on she begins to feel like she is being watched, and finds herself being stalked by a mysterious boy in the school. Instead of getting angry, however, she befriends the boy, now known to be James Derwin, and the two grow very close. But all good things must come to an end, and soon enough James has to leave Crescent Valley and can't come back. Amelia asks for one last photo to remember him by, and after she looks at it her life changes forever.
Kan Saete Kuyashiiwa By Zutomayo
One of my favorite bands right now. They are a group from Japan that specializes in rock and funk fusion. They have incredible bass lines. They are fun to play as a bassist.
Stop Ignoring Me
I use drawings to portray the voices in my head that won't leave me alone. This image is showing the voice of insecurity and doubt which is a character who is persistent and unforgiving. I use both photography and drawing to express the fact that in this situation there are two aspects affecting each other, the visible and the invisible.
Company
Two competitive high school students find themselves spending more time together than usual, which may result in a friendship...or more. Maisie and Parker are both academic stars who spend the majority of their lives working hard and striving to be the best. However, one thing that’s better than being the best, is beating your rival. Maisie and Parker compete in every aspect possible, which leaves a lot of tension between them. However, they only see each other as hardworking students. Maisie and Parker have no idea what happens behind the scenes of all that effort and motivation. When both of them end up desperately volunteering at the same event, many thoughts and emotions are brought into light. Company is a simple, heartwarming script that displays tension in teenage lives that we normally don't get to see. My script is the perfect way to show the toll that work takes on a teenager, and also just exhibit the behind the scenes of ideal teenage students.
The Walsh’s
This is a short film following my grandparents in the moments right before the quarantine. As their granddaughter, I am able to visit their home and there has always been something special about it. I wanted to share their charm and goofiness with the world. I also made it for them as a thank you gift for being so loving and involved in my life.
When Words Fail from Shrek the Musical
Musical theater is my passion, and one of my favorite shows is Shrek the Musical. I think it offers a really nice range of characters that differ from the norm, as well as a really well written score. As Shrek is a role I aspire to play at some point in time, I chose to perform his comedic ballad “When Words Fail”. In the show, he sings this as he is working up the courage to give Princess Fiona—whom he has a crush on—a flower. While the piece mainly highlights my acting ability, I think it shows my musical ability as well.
Feeling Cheated
In “Feeling Cheated” Ally, Cameron, and Erika go to pick up their boyfriend, Lance, at the airport as a surprise. Upon finding out that they are all being cheated on, the women think up a scheme to unravel Lance and make him reveal his disloyalty. This screenplay is exceedingly entertaining and humorous, it turns tropes on their heads and makes you root for the characters. Its low-budget, with no special effects or exotic set. It uses humor in a fresh new way and makes the audience feel like they’re really a part of the action. This script is relatable and entertaining for all ages.
i miss you
This is an original song about my grandfather. He passed a few years ago when I was about 11 or 12. I wrote this song to help me release everything I was holding in. The lyrics speak for themselves, but throughout the song you can see I am struggling to process what has been happening around me, and I am learning that I should have been grateful for what I had when I had it.
Floating Lanterns
I took this photo while on a trip to Vietnam. At night in the city of Hoi An there were beautiful lanterns floating down the river.
The lady in the sun
Drawing: Grafite drawing of the beautiful sun.
Mixed media: A victorian style cameo of a woman with a flower in her hair. Made with watercolor and black ink.
Dejarte Ir
This song is an original written earlier this year, inspired by the addictive pulse of reggaeton and melded with my singer-songwriter style. Reggaeton is feel-good, even when the theme is laced with longing. It is played on acoustic guitar in a café-style live performance.
Behind The Fog
This image was taken in Portugal. It is overlooking a cliff side village by the ocean on a cloudy, muggy day. I found that the similarity to all the buildings creates almost a calming affect when looked at.
Beauty of the Sand
Every day we wake-up, eat breakfast, take our Zoom calls, eat dinner, and go to bed. Then we repeat it again the next day. Very rarely do any of us take the time to admire the beautiful world around us. This photo is meant to highlight the simple beauty of the sun shining on a patch of sand at sunset. We don't need to travel to Hawaii or Italy or Bora Bora to find picturesque scenes; we just have to take a second and look away from our daily rituals to find the beauty in the everyday.
