Introduction and Havanaise

The pandemic has been hard on everyone's life, include myself. This violin solo piece that is written and performed by me, is an effort to express the struggle, frustration, longing and hope for our daily life interrupted by Covid-19. I started writing the piece on Sibelius software, but then when I recorded the piece, it kind of transformed and merged into totally different sounds--kind of like our situation right now; rather unpredictable. Therefore I don't have a music score to submit, only the recording.

Ghosts on a highway

I used watercolor, Micron pens, and Gelly Roll jelly pens for this piece, inspired by a trend going around the internet where people would dress up as ghosts and take pictures with their friends.

When George wakes up in an empty room and finds out he’s in Purgatory, he thinks this can't get any weirder. But then he learns his next stop is an interview with the demon of hell himself. The People in Your Head

The shy high school student, Evelyn, has the ability to bring whoever she imagines to life. When a stranger she creates is the cause of the disappearance of her good friend, her brother finds a way to rid her of her guilt. He takes her to a new school, which means a new reputation and a brand new start. Will she be successful in her attempts to finally use her powers for good, or will the new friends she creates bring total disaster?

This story is a powerful statement and lesson in self-confidence, and that you don’t have to be afraid to speak up for what you believe in. Its comedic moments and magical premise keep it light and fun while still being firmly grounded in reality at its core.

Vines

The painting can be interpreted in any way that seems fit, but it was made with the intent of expressing the feeling of being held back by something or someone. The subject is glowing with life and the background reflects that. The vines are meant to juxtapose that, as they are meant to be connected with the feeling of suffocating (metaphorically). The vines can represent a person, an obstacle, an emotion, etc. Despite the vines being a negative force, a fragile balance is established between the subject and the vines that confine her. The vines could be interpreted as something that keeps her grounded, a challenge, that once overcome will lead to incredible growth, or something else entirely.

Medium: gouache paint on watercolor paper.

Dimensions: 18 by 24

Death of Youth

A struggling teen gets lost in the darkness and solitude that is growing up as his younger self reminds him what it feels like to live youthfully. The ending leaves the viewer wondering if the younger boy was merely a fragment of his imagination? Or if the older boy has really and truly lost himself forever?

Death of Youth is worthy of becoming a movie due to the way it enthralls the viewer and really forces them to think. It seamlessly combines thrill with tragedy in a way that is tasteful, unique, and relatable. It’s a new twist to your coming of age story that will certainly catch the viewers off guard.

Self Portrait "Coraline Doll"

I created this self portrait doll inspired by the one in the movie Coraline. I made a wire armature for the doll's body and sculpted the features out of air-drying clay. The hair is yarn, which I attached one-by-one using a few different colors. I designed and sewed the doll's dress and made her necklace, too.

Big Foot, Big Foot Jr.

This idea came to me during art class. We could do anything we wanted and I decided to do something no one has done before. I started working on this, and got more and more ideas as I went along. I was watching Judy Moody the night before and big foot was featured in that movie. When I got to class I thought that would be a fun idea. I am very proud of what has come out of this and hope to make more and more.

ill thought

ill thought portrays a deep intrusive thought that slowly melts one's identity, making it hard to believe what is real and what is not. I was inspired by the movie, I'm thinking of ending things which has lots of hidden meaning and motifs of inner thoughts. The medium I used is gouache on bristol paper.
