• Artist Statement

  This piece is somewhat of an accumulation of what I've been drawing within the last couple of months, as floating castles resting on clouds has been a common occurrence in my math notebooks and such. In recent years, I have become enamored with clouds. These mountains of mist hundreds of feet in the sky can often remind me of the beauty of nature while surrounded by the distractions of society. On a flight to Hawaii last Thanksgiving, I spent hours gazing out the window at a spectacular field of clouds, as they created mesmerizing patterns seen nowhere else in the natural world. The other fascination with medieval architecture comes no doubt from one of my favorite games "Rayman Legends". I was in love with the games hand painted worlds since I was a small child, and the game has been a vast well of inspiration in my own creative works. Basically, I like drawing floating castles, so I drew floating castles with a lot more effort than a bored math book doodle.
