My work was inspired by my love for 80s nostalgia and Vaporwave culture. I firmly believe that reminiscing on old times is an important part of life, and memories can be a key aspect of who we are as people. I chose to express that through my work, appropriately titled Nostalgia. My goal in creating this work was to capture the essence of popular 1980s aesthetics, with the neon colors and segmented sun. I might not have lived during the 1980s, but I love the overall aesthetics that the decade brought about. Everything seemed so vibrant and I firmly believe that today’s world needs more vibrancy. I hope that my work will bring about that vibrancy, even if it’s just a speck of it.
