I Remember Clifford

Liam D.

  • I selected the song “I Remember Clifford” because of the emotional range the piece allows. The history of the song is about the short life of the legendary Clifford Brown that passed away tragically at the age of 23. The song takes me to a place where I get lost in the music and my horn seems to take over. That is one of my favorite things about playing the trumpet, letting the music speak for me when I can’t find the right words.

  • In jazz, I let my feelings flow with every note I play. The real magic happens in improvisation. It’s a feeling that is hard to put into words. Sometimes in the middle of a solo, the music takes over and my trumpet tells people things I can’t put into words.
