This piece was drawn for the celebration of Chinese New Year. This holiday is especially important to me and my family, as it is the time when we give back to our ancestors through offerings of food and burning paper money. During this time, we meet with extended family and many feelings of compassion, gratitude, and sincerity are shared. In this piece, I wanted to capture the warm welcoming and beauty of the holiday through a landscape painting of a girl with a graceful expression, standing in front of an evening scenery. Exciting fireworks are lit in the sky and their colors reflect along a calm sea, representing the beginning of a new year and the goals I hope to reach by the end of 2023.
