• Artist Statement

  After interviewing a few residents of Oakland I created this piece of art based on their description of how Oakland is for them. While I was creating this piece, I also incorporated elements that remind me of the Oakland community. The artwork feels partially abstract because I wanted the audience to interpret the art and come up with their own understanding why the art is presented in this way.

• Creative Statement

  Exploring my creativity allows me to practice seeing the world from different views and perspectives. My creativity grows from my surrounding and information of the world I take in, and exercise my creativity also encourages me to explore the world more.
