Burnt Out

This painting is about artistic burnout. I chose this topic simply because it's something I deal with a lot, and something that other artists can connect with. Connection and relatability is something I strive for in all my artwork- it's important, I think, to make art that reflects experiences. I chose to take my theme literally, leaning into the 'burn' aspect by replacing the subject's head with flames. I left the canvas in the image blank to represent the lack of motivation and creation that accompanies the experience. My hope is that this piece resonates with people and that it accurately conveys all the feelings that come with burnout.

Creativity has always been an outlet for me- it's a way for me to put my emotions into a physical thing. It's something I express whenever the opportunity arises, because it's such a positive, fulfilling experience. I don't know where I'd be without it.
