Body Image

Aidan A.

  • This piece is focused on the issue of body image in youth. Being someone who has struggled with body dysmorphia in the past, I used personal experience along with common trends. I decided to cut-out words from newspapers and magazines to convey the idea of popular media forcing the “ideal” body on youth. The centerpiece features a person using a tape measure to measure their waistline, something I used to do frequently, any I know many others do as well. A couple of tongues along with an apple core shaped as a person are depicted to represent diets and eating disorders.

  • I love putting emotions into my work because it allows me to express them in a healthy way.
