I Love You by C. Porter

Kai C.

  • I will be submitting a video of me playing my solo arrangement of the jazz standard "I Love You" by Cole Porter (at 245-255 bpm). It took a little while to get together my interpretation of the song, and as far as the process goes, it just took some practice and meddling with--I was particularly inspired by Mccoy Tyner (and an album called "Infinity") for the intro and outro portions. When I found what I was looking for I started to record (because this submission is a jazz standard that mainly focuses on my soloing I feel like I have less to say in this section). Thank you for listening!

  • To me, creativity is self-expression. One of the beauties of creativity is that it isn't something that is restricted to certain activities; while I particularly enjoy expression through jazz piano and songwriting, creativity is more than just a "side" of who I am--it is present in any endeavor.
