Satirical Seduction

Khloe F.

collage: magazines, mod podge, scissors, exacto knife, liquid glue, Procreate

  • This collage was inspired by a piece of a naked figure with a picture of breasts covering her actual breasts. This image has stayed in my mind ever since, inciting self-conversations over the differences in gender expectations and perceptions of actions. I formulated an idea of cone-wearing individuals covered by bananas on the street, but after searching through my art teacher’s cupboards of magazines, found a lack of bananas. The piece turned whimsical as I discovered various fruits and unique elements that I cut out of pages. The result was a subtle order in the chaos and a satirical piece about the censoring of breasts and other body parts considered inappropriate to show by some. The background is an array of grays while the foreground has pops of color to stand out, tied together by the prevalence of red and green amidst the disorder.

  • Creativity is defying the limits of physical expression through the use of media and allowing the self, ideas, and world to be explored through composition and colors.
