This piece is a visual simile between the open-close mechanism of an oyster shell and a compact mirror. I created two shells linked by a hinge, where their interiors geometrically abstract the viewers reflection. Oysters are featured in Vanitas paintings as well as being connected to the concept of beauty by their pearls. My work creates a connection between the concepts of beauty and organics through the fusion of the shells and the refracted mirror.

For me, creativity is the ability to express or communicate an idea in non-traditional manners and compellingly.
