• Artist Statement

  The piece is a front and back song cover for Kendrick Lamar’s ”Not Like Us.” It parodies Félix Louis Leullier’s ”Entrée triomphale du Christ à Jérusalem,” with imagery of West Coast hip-hop superimposed on the holy city. There is no intent to degrade Christianity or elevate Kendrick to the level of savior, he himself rejects the idea. This is only a comparison of two idols and their homecoming crowds, one celebrating triumph over sin and the other celebrating triumph over Drake.

• Creative Statement

  Creativity means using one’s own imagination and means to bring something into fruition that innovates on the work of themselves or someone else. Often the best creations result from a process of excitement, frustration, solution, and re-excitement.
